about mE

My name is Mustafa Al Salmi and I am Production Engineer at Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) and Computational Chemistry Consultant in Quantum Chemical Simulations for OTI Lumionics. I am also a Technical Reviewer that contribute my expertise by reviewing code submissions and publication for the Journal of Open Source Software. I have received my BEng Chemical and Material Engineering from University of Leeds, UK in 2021. Then I completed MSc in Physical and Computational Chemistry by Research from University of Lincoln and ISIS Neutron and Muon Source at the STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory near Oxford, UK between 2021 and 2023. I have also obtained fellowship from 17th Oxford School of Neutron Scattering at University of Oxford and ISIS Neutron and Muon Source in September 2022.

I am the founder of Material Science Quizzes, an online material science education platform. My research focuses on neutron vibrational spectroscopy techniques, first-principles computational modelling, and data science to understand and predict heterogeneous catalysts and materials for use in sustainable chemical production. I am also interested in the development and application of new electron microscopy techniques to study the structural properties of materials with high spatial resolution in three dimensions.
